Graduated from Sichuan Medical College in 1977, obtained master degree from West China University of Medical Sciences in 1985 and doctoral degree from Universite Aix-Marseille III, France in 1990.

 

Professor of Physiology (1997- ), head of Department of Physiology (1994-2001), and vice dean of West China School of Basic Medical Sciences and Forensic Medicine (2001-2011)in Sichuan University,executive member of the council of Chinese Association of Physiological Sciences (1998-2010),chairman of Physiological Society of Sichuan Province (2006-2015), member of editorial board of ActaPhysiologicaSinica, Journal of Biomedical Engineering, Journal of Sichuan University (Medical Science Edition) and some others.

 

The major research interest has been focused on neurobiology, especially the neural control of breathing and respiration-related activities. The main works we previously did include the effects of stimulatingacupoint“Renzhong” on respiration and the underlying mechanism in rabbits, the electrophysiological and morphological properties of the respiratory neurons in medulla oblongata in rats, the roles of the medullary respiratory neurons in regulation of respiration and respiration-related activities in cats, and the effects of ischemia or hypoxia of brainstem on respirationand the protective strategies in rats. The recent main work focuses onthe biological actions of H2S in rats.
